Project to upgrade safety standards of research laboratories in Thailand (ESPReL)

On Wednesday, November 1, 2023, the Committee on Laboratory Safety Standards Related to Chemicals at Naresuan University, led by Dr. Visakha Suphanpaiboon, Chief Auditor, along with the evaluation team, assessed laboratory safety standards (ESPReL Checklist) under the safety policy and drive for laboratories related to chemicals (2023 – 2027) set by the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT). The purpose of this evaluation was to establish a link between laboratory safety management and the allocation of research funds, as well as to raise awareness and foster a sustainable safety culture. The management of laboratory safety is carried out systematically and continuously.

In this context, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Noppawan Bunchu, Director of the Academic Service Center in the Faculty of Medical Sciences, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Amnat Petcharungnapa, Deputy Head of the Department of Biochemistry, along with personnel from the Department of Biochemistry, attended the presentation of operational reports. They inspected and evaluated the project to enhance safety standards for research laboratories in Thailand (ESPReL) for the second time. The evaluation took place in the meeting room of the Department of Biochemistry, MD 134, which houses the Department of Biochemistry’s laboratory. The evaluation covered two rooms: the Department of Biochemistry Central Laboratory MD 346 and the Biochemistry Central Equipment Room 1 MD 340/1, both located in the Faculty of Medical Sciences.
