Cultivating Researchers of Integrity: A World-Class Lecture on Research Ethics

On 30 June 2026, the Faculty of Medical Science, Naresuan University, had the great honour of welcoming Prof. Dr. Wai Chen (a Visiting Professor) from Medical School, Curtin University, Australia, as a guest lecturer on the topic “Research Ethics” in the course 415402 Basic Research Methodology 3(2-2-5), first semester of the 2026 academic year. The session was co-presented by Dr. Yutthapong Thongpob, offering students a valuable opportunity to learn directly from an internationally recognised expert.
On this occasion, a warm welcome was delivered by Dr. Taksanee Mahasiripan, the Course Coordinator, who emphasised the importance of research ethics as a foundation for nurturing capable and responsible researchers of the future.
The lecture broadened students’ perspectives and inspired them to appreciate the value of conducting research ethically, covering the Responsible Conduct of Research, Research Integrity, respect for and protection of research participants’ rights, as well as adherence to international standards, all of which form the cornerstone of credible research that benefits society.
The learning atmosphere was full of enthusiasm, as students exchanged ideas and came to recognise that research ethics is not merely a set of rules, but the very heart of enhancing research quality and building trust within the academic community.
The activity was attended by a total of 162 third-year undergraduate students from the Faculty of Medical Science, comprising 64 students from the Medical Science programme, 41 students from the Medical Science programme (Bachelor’s-to-Master’s continuous track), and 57 students from the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology programme.
The Faculty of Medical Science remains committed to cultivating and nurturing students to grow into good researchers of strong integrity and responsibility, ready to become a driving force in creating research that brings lasting benefits to the nation and the global community.
